LOVING OUR NEIGHBORS AS OURSELVES

In Matthew 22, Jesus tells us the greatest commandment is to love God.  The second greatest commandment is to love each other.  That is the mission of the Homewood Church of Christ Outreach Ministry.  And we show that love by serving our community.

That Commitment to devotion to service is one of the pillars of Homewood's Vision 2030.

OUR INITIATIVES AND PARTNERSHIPS

MOBILE AND ONSITE FOOD PANTRY

Each month, our volunteers go into the community of Jonesboro in Bessemer to serve the needs of the food insecure there by providing meats, fresh produce, canned goods and other non-perishable items and offering spiritual support.

We also welcome people to our building each month to help provide for their basic food needs.

RACIAL UNITY

ACTION TEAM

The Mission of the Homewood Church of Christ Racial Unity Action Team is to strive for racial unity, reconciliation and understanding within our faith family, to other bodies of believers and across our communities.

MISSION STATEMENT OF RACIAL UNITY ACTION TEAM

The kingdom-focused mission of our group is built on the vision expressed in Revelation 7:9 and the unity called for in Ephesians 2:13 and Ephesians 4:3.

Rev. 7:9

After this I looked, and there before me was a great multitude that no one could count, from every nation, tribe, people and language, standing before the throne and before the Lamb.

Eph. 2:13

But now in Christ Jesus you who once were far away have been brought near by the blood of Christ,

Eph. 4:3

Make every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace.

50/50 CHALLENGE

Each spring, we give $50 to every Homewood household and ask them to go out and spend it serving others in the community.  In addition, we ask them to spend at least 50 minutes helping others.  They often add their own money and spend more time in service.  It has been inspirational to see what God has led us to do through this effort.
