As we celebrate 75 years of God’s faithfulness at Homewood Church of Christ, we believe one of the best ways to honor our past is to continue living out the mission Christ has given His church. Jesus taught us that loving God and loving our neighbors go hand in hand, and throughout His ministry He demonstrated a life of compassion, generosity, and service.
That’s the heart behind 75 Days of Service.
Beginning July 7 and continuing through Celebration Sunday on September 20, we are inviting every member of our Homewood family to intentionally serve someone in our community. This initiative reflects our vision of being kingdom devoted disciples making disciples of nations and generations and our commitment to a life devoted to service.
Whether you’re an individual, a family, a Connect Group, a group of friends, or coworkers, there is a place for you in this effort. We hope every member from our youngest children to our oldest adults will discover the joy of serving others in the name of Jesus.
What Does Participation Look Like?
During these 75 days, we encourage every person to participate in at least one act of service. Some projects may take just a few minutes while others may involve a larger commitment. Every act of kindness matters.
We’ll provide a variety of suggested opportunities throughout the campaign, but you’re also encouraged to create your own. You might serve a neighbor, volunteer with a local ministry, visit someone who is lonely, prepare a meal, write encouraging notes, collect supplies for those in need, or simply meet a practical need you notice around you. Big or small, every act becomes an opportunity to reflect the love of Christ.
Service doesn't have to be limited by age or ability. Everyone can serve and together, hundreds of simple acts of service can become a powerful testimony to our community.
Our Prayer
While this initiative lasts 75 days, our prayer is that its impact lasts far longer. We hope these weeks cultivate hearts that continually look for opportunities to serve, encourage, and share the love of Christ wherever we go.
As we reflect on God’s faithfulness over the past 75 years, let’s recommit ourselves to being the hands and feet of Jesus by loving our neighbors through lives marked by compassion and joyful service.
